Welcome to the memorial page for

Betty L. Leggett

July 4, 1940 ~ February 9, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Betty L. Leggett, age 75, of 7251 Downey Drive S.W., Sherrodsville, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2016 in her residence following a long illness.

She retired in 2006 from the U.S. Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta where she had worked for 15 years.  She was also a former employee of Diebold Inc. at Canton, O. and the former Scio Pottery.

She was born July 4, 1940 in Sherrodsville, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Charles Leroy and Genevieve Adeline Thompson Tinlin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers Virgil, Harold, and Rae Tinlin.

She was a member of the Dellroy United Methodist Church. Betty and her husband Bob were fond of their home on Atwood Lake, where the doors were always open to welcome relatives and friends.  Every Fourth of July, they would hold a large party at their home to celebrate Betty's birthday and the holiday.  Years ago, she enjoyed going square dancing.  Betty was one of the original members of the Tinlin's Bowling Team in the Tuesday Nite Dellettes at Atwood Lanes in Dellroy. She and Bob periodically indulged in a trip to Las Vegas or Wheeling, West Virginia to gamble a little - Betty was always particularly fond of the slot machines.  After she became mostly homebound, she delighted in watching the birds and deer in her back yard from her window that overlooks the lake. And when she received a visit from her grandchildren, it always put a smile on her face.  In her eyes, they could do no wrong. To Betty, her family and many friends were priceless, and her presence will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Robert J. Leggett, Sr., whom she married October 22, 1956, a daughter Tina M. Leggett and her friend Susan Mackey of Akron, O., a son, Robert J. Leggett Jr. and his friend Deb Conley of Sherrodsville, a sister Alice Marie Robinson of Dellroy, two brothers, Richard "Dick" (Cherrie) Tinlin of Bluffton, South Carolina and Paul (Wanda) Tinlin of Dellroy, O.,  six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a large family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, three very special family members Jolene Cochran, Brenda Leggett, and Jeanine Day and some extraordinary neighbors.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg and Rev. Milo Baker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.
