Betty J. Sharp

Betty J. Sharp, age 84, of  Dover, Ohio, and formerly of Sherrodsville O. and Palmetto, Florida, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 2016 in her residence in the Country Club Retirement Campus Apartments.

She was born December 28, 1931 in Dennison, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Clifford A. and Lois Tohey Belknap and her step-mother, the late Drell Price McQueen Belknap.  Her husband, Jack L. Sharp, whom she married July 6, 1948, died August 6, 1994.  In addition to her parents, step-mother and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Timothy Lee Sharp, who died in 1952,  a sister Irene Boyd, and a granddaughter and her husband Laurie S. Buckey and Michael R. Buckey.

She retired as a bank teller from Citizen's Bank (former Society Bank) in Sherrodsville after many years of faithful service. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville and a was a member of both the former Sherrodsville Pythian Sisters and Orange Chapter Order of Eastern Star.  She was currently a member of the Carroll Chapter Order of Eastern Star #315.  Betty liked to knit and play the piano.  She was an excellent singer who enjoyed performing gospel music. She was a graduate of the former Sherrodsville High School. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and many friends. 

She is survived by two sons, Jack Lynn (Debbie) Sharp and Mark J. (Della) Sharp, both of New Philadelphia, O., her six grandchildren Mike (Debbie) Sharp of Racine, O.,  Jeff (Becky) Sharp of New Philadelphia, Missy Blank of Dover, O.,  Mindy (Josh) Limbacher of New Philadelphia, Lisa (Jamie) Altimore of Magnolia, O., and Louie Leatherman of New Philadelphia, and 11 great-grandchildren, two nephews Tom (Kathy) Boyd of Boone, North Carolina and Terry (Diane) Boyd of Sun City, Florida.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
