Winifred A. Maxwell , age 67, of New Philadelphia, Ohio (Roswell), died Tuesday night, February 16, 2016 in her residence.
She was born July 6, 1948 in Amsterdam, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Warren Bliss and Margaret Jane Szarenski Wade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
an infant daughter Roberta Jane Maxwell, a brother Steven Wade, and a sister Wenda Lee Wade.
Winifred was a homemaker whose primary responsibility was to care for her family. She was a former member of the Army-Navy Garrison in Dover, and the Uhrichsville Moose. She was highly regarded for her baking skills, and bread was her specialty. She also loved to sew and knit, and was able to create many cherished gifts for her family. She relished organizing and participating in gatherings which involved her family.
She is survived by her former spouse and friend Harold Raymond Maxwell of Uhrichsville, O. two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Ann (Joey) Eckstein of Roswell and Cheri Lynn Maxwell of New Philadelphia, a son, Harold "Butch" (Crystal) Maxwell of Stone Creek, O., three sisters Martha Wade Cochran of Bowerston, O., Janett Wade of Killbuck, O., and Margaret "Sissy" Cox of Uhrichsville, O., four brothers Paul Wade of Dennison, O., John Wade of Lake City, Florida, Warren R. "Bob" Wade of Roswell, and Raymond Wade of Uhrichsville, and 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate her life will take place at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Roswell Park Pavillion, complete with food and jazz music. Interment of her ashes will follow at a later date in the Longview Cemetery at Bowerston, Ohio. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements.
