William C. "Bill" Thomas, age 80, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, June 10, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia,
He was born May 25, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio and was the son of the late William E. and Ellen Marie Ford Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister and a grandson, Timothy Thomas.
He is survived by his wife Linda Lou Emmons Thomas, a daughter Susan L. Toalston of Cleveland, OH a son, Bruce S. Thomas of Bowerston, OH a sister, Maggie E. Thomas of Bowerston, a brother Michael M. Thomas of Uhrichsville, OH, his seven grandchildren Thomas W. and Todd A. Toalston, Sara E. Vance, Angela M. Lewis, Mikayla K.and Hunter W. Thomas and Joseph Nagorski, and nine great-grandchildren Nicholas and Trinity Gerthing, Gage and Talia Vance, Laken and Timothy Herbert, Tommy Humane, Emma Toalston, and Peyton Nagorski.
Bill retired after more than 40 years as a self-employed truck driver who specialized in asphalt delivery. Some of his rare leisure time he enjoyed spending at the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 and the Bolivar Sportsman's Club. Following retirement he spent many hours operating a backhoe and brush hog on his property, completing projects whether they needed done or not ... he was the consummate "Mr. Fix-It-All". He was also a devoted gun collector and hunter. Married to Linda almost 60 years, since July 8, 1961, he was a loving and kind husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He "took care of everyone". He will be sadly missed by his family to which he was so devoted.
A Memorial Service honoring his life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 26, 2021 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. John Dunn officiating.
