Wilfred G. Buehler

Wilfred G. Buehler, age 86, of Bowerston, Ohio, died  peacefully Wednesday night, January 13, 2016 in his daughter Linda's home under the care of Community Hospice.

He retired from the former U.S. Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta after 46 1/2 years of service. 

He was born November 2, 1929 in Carrollton, Ohio and was the son of the late George F. and Arna H. Lappen Buehler.  His wife, Freda Mae Stalnaker Buehler, whom he married August 2, 1953, died on March 18, 1996.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dean Buehler.

Wilfred engaged in novelty woodworking as a hobby.  He generally relished his life around his farm. He had a deep appreciation for the simple things that it offered - his Allis-Chalmers tractor and his cattle, in particular.  He also was a fan of attending flea markets.  He was a loving father and cared deeply for all three generations of his grandchildren. 

He is survived by a son and a daughter Francis E. "Frank" (Susan I.) Buehler of Sherrodsville, O. and Linda K. (Joe) Brown of Bowerston, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, and two brothers and a sister Dwight (Linda) Buehler and Loy Buehler, both of Carrollton, and Shirley Wilkin of Mercer, Pennsylvania, and his faithful dog "Jack".   The family of Wilfred Buehler would like to offer their special thanks to Tara Armstrong and to the nurses and aides serving Community Hospice for their assistance and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 18, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Mr. Karl Henry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County,  716 Commercial Avenue S.W.,  New Philadelphia, Ohio  44663.
