Thelda B. Dayton

Thelda B. Dayton, age 76, of Carrollton, Ohio, died early Monday, August 21, 2023 in her residence after a long illness.

She was born November 18, 1946 in Richwood, West Virginia and was the daughter of  the late Arthur R. and Theta (McClung) Huffman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by  eight sisters and five brothers.

Thelda was a well-known area cake decorator for over 50 years.  She loved baking, and was fond of sharing with others. She sharpened her culinary skills while working in a number of local bakeries over the years. A member of the Hanoverton Church of Christ, she was very strong in her Christian Faith and her personal walk with God.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be missed by her family and many friends. 

She is survived by her husband John E. Dayton, whom she married February 20, 1965, a daughter, Mrs. Lori (Chad) Wade of Carrollton, two sons, Tim (Angela) Dayton of Salineville, OH, and Steve (Teresa) Dayton of Leesville, OH, five grandchildren Branyan, Brody, and Brylie Wade, Matthew Dayton,  and Stevie Dayton, and great-grandchildren Cameron and Makayla Dayton, and  two sisters, Thelma Stevens of Salineville and Theta Mathie of Carrollton.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Minister Robert Main officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.
