THEDA E. PATRICK

With a personality all of her own, Theda (Rennicker) Patrick was truly one of a kind.  She loved being surrounded by those she loved. And even though her feisty nature would sometimes get the best of her, it was just one of those things that made Theda all the more lovable.  She will be sadly missed, memories of her as a devoted wife, dedicated mother, loving grandmother, and a caring great grandmother will live on in the hearts she leaves behind.
The year 1948 proved to be a time of mixed blessings.  During that time, a most blessed event took place in the lives of Lloyd D. and Treva (Ohler) Rennicker of Midvale, Ohio,  when on April 6, 1948 they welcomed the birth of their little girl, Theda. She was the second of three children which included her siblings Lloyd K. and Carol (Price).  Theda enjoyed a typical childhood for the time.  Her father worked at Marlite and her mother was a homemaker.  Theda and her siblings often helped with the household chores. With the help of her siblings, she always found a way to get into  trouble, although she found plenty on her own.  From her earlier years, she could be quite feisty and knew how to hold her own with the best of them.  She attended Indian Valley North High School until the 11th grade. In October of 1965, Theda's life took on a new meaning.  While visiting family friends (Harold and Reva Haney), she met a handsome man named Jimmy Dale Patrick.  He played dumb that evening, so she could "teach" him how to play cards.  His plan worked, considering their relationship blossomed into love.  From that day forward, they had been together ever since, and on February 26, 1966, they sealed their love in marriage at Jimmy's parents' home (Dale and Nora Patrick) in Mineral City, Ohio. They soon set out to begin a family of their own, and in time they were blessed with two wonderful children.  Jimmy Dale Jr. and Tonya made their lives complete.  Theda was a devoted mother making homemade pizza night a tradition.  She also endeavored the annual camping trips.  Theda worked at Atwood Lodge in the housekeeping/laundry department, before she decided home health care was her calling.  She truly enjoyed bringing smiles to the faces of the elderly that she would encounter.  She later had to retire due to her everyday struggles with MS.  She enjoyed a variety of activities in her life.  When she was younger,  she bowled on a league for many years.  She was very talented in the art of creating crafts.  She made numerous craft items for the ones she loved, from ceramics to crocheting.  She was also an animal lover.  She has taken in many strays animals that would later become her pets.  She also enjoyed playing bingo.  When grandchildren came into her life, she was overjoyed.  She loved being a grandmother and devoted as much time as she could with her grandchildren. Truly one of a kind, Theda was loved by those who knew her.  Although she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on as a cherished treasure.  Theda's family includes her husband of 44 years, Jimmy Dale,  two children:  Jimmy Jr. (Kim) of Leavittsville, and Tonya (William) Bigler of Sherrodsville,  and  five grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Lloyd K Rennicker and Carol Price. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd D. and Treva Rennicker,  a grandson, Justin Johnson,  and a great-granddaughter Avery Nicole Johnson .  At the age of 62, Theda Patrick passed away on January 17, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 21, 2011 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Clarke A. Hogue III officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.  Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 until 7:00 P.M.in the funeral home.
