Ruth J. Wilkin

Ruth J. Wilkin, age 79, most recently a resident of the New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover, OH, and a long time resident of Sandy Valley Estates in Magnolia, died early Friday morning, April 14, 2023 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born October 3, 1943 in Canton, Ohio, and raised in Sherrodsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. "Jack" and Della Roberta (Dougherty) Wilkin.  

She retired in 2004 from P.C.C. Airfoils  (formerly T.R.W.), in Minerva after 38 years of service. Following retirement, she also worked part-time at the Crossroads Hardware Store in Magnolia.  She was a lifetime member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Sherrodsville. She was a collector of Indian keepsakes and filled her leisure time reading and completing various puzzles.

She is survived by two brothers, Richard L. "Dick" (Denise) Wilkin of El Paso, Texas and William L. "Bill" (Darlene) Wilkin of Sherrodsville, OH, a nephew, Zebulon (Sara) Wilkin, also of El Paso,  a niece Mrs. Ivy (Nick) Morrison of New Caney, TX, her family of great nieces and great nephews, Coral, Elijah, Reuben, Hazel, Titus, Tyler, and Gracious, her aunt Shirley Wilkin of Mercer, PA, and an extended family of cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Tuesday,  April 18, 2023 in the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville and one hour prior to services at the church.  Contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Community Hospice,  716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio  44663.
