Robert L. Brannon, age 82, of 2076 Royal Road S.W., Carrollton, Ohio, died peacefully Monday afternoon, January 11, 2016 in the Aultman Hospital at Canton following a six-week illness.
He was born September 27, 1933 in rural Mineral City, Ohio and was the son of the late Roma and Ocie Ickes Brannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Dale, Roger, and Russell Franklin Brannon, two sisters Clairmont Shuman and Marge Shuman, a brother-in-law Bill Baker, a nephew Joe Baker, and a niece Nancy Davis.
Bob retired as a night watchman from the former U.S. Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta after 47 years service. He had also held various other jobs during his tenure at U.S. Ceramic. He generally appreciated spending time outdoors, particularly sitting on his porch in the open air. He was also very interested in attending as many Newell Auctions as possible. It was a very common sight in the area to see Bob and his wife Esther driving around in their maroon pickup truck.
He is survived by his wife Esther Umstead Brannon, whom he married November 3, 1952, his son Robert Brannon of the home, two brothers Ray (Wanda) Brannon of Dellroy, O. and Larry Brannon of New Cumberland, O. and his sister, Karen Levengood of Mineral City, O., a sister-in-law Mary Baker of New Philadelphia, O., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 15, 2016 in the Union Valley Cemetery in Rose Township near Dellroy with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating, with interment to follow.
