Nell M. Burleson

Nell M. Burleson, age 82, of Bowerston, Ohio, died Friday evening, November 14, 2025 in the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus at Cleveland.

She was born December 8, 1942 in Newland, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Carter and May (Johnson) Dugger.  Her husband, James Gilbert Burleson, Jr. passed away on July 9, 2015.   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by  a son, Gilbert Ray Burleson, and a sister, Shirley Shaffer.

Nell was an active member of the Scio American Legion Auxilliary and a member of the Uhrichsville Moose. She was fond of spending time tending to her flower beds at her home and enjoyed reading in her moments of solitude, and even engaged in a few Yoga classes over the years.  She loved to engage in activities that involved her family ... her favorite roles being that of "Mom" and "Grandma".  But Nell liked to be "on the go".  She was always up to take a ride to go shopping and even participate in a little gambling. She was fond of spending time with her companion Wally Leggett either watching movies or finding another place to go together.  Nell was always very positive and upbeat, and left that impression with those she encountered. 

She is survived by a son, James Alec (Cathy) Burleson of Dennison, OH  a daughter, Tami Lynn (Fiancée Tonia Roberites) Shreffler of Bowerston, a brother, Gene Dugger of Texas, 
five grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, and her companion, Wally Leggett of Sherrodsville.

A Celebration of Life will be observed at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2025 in the Leesville Faith Community Chapel, 145 South Union Street, Leesville, Ohio   44639.  A reception will follow the services from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Scio American Legion Post #482, 38175 Crimm Road, Scio, Ohio.  The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with her arrangements.
