Mary Ann (Davidson) Rochow, age 82, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, (formerly of Atwood Lake, OH), died Friday, January 21, 2022.
She was born March 24, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry Davidson and Helen Louise (Pompoco) Davidson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Davidson.
Mary Ann was a teacher by trade and in her heart. She taught elementary classes after graduating from Kent State University. She returned to the classroom after raising her family as a substitute teacher, reading mentor, classroom volunteer and Sunday school teacher and especially enjoyed the younger elementary children. Mary Ann was committed to serving others and was an active volunteer for many ministries including food pantries, Angel Tree organizations, Vacation Bible School and the Blessing Box at her local church. Mary Ann was a lifelong avid reader, bird watcher and lover of all things Scotland. She enjoyed researching and reading about ancestry lines and connections as well as bowling with her husband and friends. Mary Ann was most passionate about her family and cherished every moment, memory, photo and video of her children, grand-children, great grand-children and extended family.
Mary Ann passed away on the 61st anniversary of her January 21, 1961 marriage to Richard E. "Rich" Rochow, her beloved husband who preceded her in death. She is survived by her four daughters, Kathleen Carter (James), Lisa Mittower, Sharon Chaney and Ellen Jones (Brian), four grand-children Kate Homlish (Christian), Christopher Bowles (Danielle), Jacob Bowles (Kaitie) and Teagan Jones and four great grand-children Cecilia and Oliver Homlish and Elodie and Adela Bowles.
A private celebration of life and funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville. Internment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Mary Ann's home church, Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Box #56 Waxhaw, NC 28173.
