Mary Y. Douglas, age 70, of 7012 Crocus Road, Bowerston, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, July 15, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover following a long illness.
She was born November 18, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Sherman Elijah and Clarice Dorothy Farnsworth Brownfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Douglas, who died October 23, 2002 and seven brothers.
Mary was primarily a homemaker, although she had also been employed at Scio Pottery, Alsco Anaconda, and Snyder manufacturing. She also assisted her husband in the operation of the former Douglas Trucking. She enjoyed filling her free time crafting, and was particularly adept at quilting and making Christmas decorations. She also found solace in growing flowers and working in her vegetable garden.
She is survived by a daughter and a son, Mrs. Mike (Shari) Nalley and Bobby E. (Nancy) Douglas II, both of Bowerston, three grandchildren Brody Nalley and Dominic and Kali Douglas, all of Bowerston, two sisters Amanda "Mandy" Freshour of Bowerston and Patty Phillips of Barnhill, O., and three brothers, Emery Brownfield of Canton, O, Wayne Brownfield of Columbus, O., and Ralph Brownfield of Canton.
Rev. Dan Price will officiate a public graveside service, which will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Dover Burial Park at Dover, O. Where interment will follow. There are no calling hours, although a private family visitation will be observed in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.
