Leslie R. Berg, age 83, of Bowerston, Ohio, died Sunday evening, June 20, 2021 in the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.
He was born March 15, 1938 in Rockford, Illinois and was the son of the late Aubrey Edward and Clarabelle "Kay" Graham Berg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter Renee Ann Berg, and a brother, James Berg.
Les was a 1956 graduate of Conotton Valley High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 - 1963. He was a former employee of the East Sparta Ceramic Tile Company, The Nolan Company in Bowerston, and retired as a Manufacturing Engineer from Everhard Products, Inc. at Canton, Ohio. He was an active and faithful member of the Bowerston First United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. He had also served as a trustee for the Bowerston Public Library. He was a devoted and well-traveled fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, having followed them to many venues across the country to attend games. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by his family and his community.
He is survived by his wife Nancy I. Rutledge Berg, with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on April 17 of this year, two sons Vic (Michelle) Berg of Dover, OH and Vince (Stacy Sanders) Berg of Sherrodsville, OH, two granddaughters Mrs. Breanna (Jason) Fuhrer of Strasburg, OH, and Kylie ( Fiance Andrew Stalnaker) Berg of Garfield Heights, OH, three grandsons Taylor (Tayla Barker) Berg of Bowerston, Tanner Berg of Sherrodsville, and Tyler (Kristen Dideon) Lightner of Aurora, OH, and a great-grandson, Jackson Fuhrer of Strasburg.
A Memorial Service honoring his life will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, June 24, 2021 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Tom Dawson and Pastor Jerralyn Myers officiating. Calling hours will be observed from 4:00 P.M. until time of services at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment of his ashes will take place at a later date in the Longview Cemetery at Bowerston.
