Larry W. Brannon, age 81, of rural Mineral City, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, December 1, 2022 in the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio following a brief illness.
He was born June 13, 1941 in Sandy Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio and was the son of the late Roma and Ocie Ickes Brannon. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Russell, Dale, and Roger Brannon, and two sisters Clairmont and Marge Shuman.
Larry held various jobs throughout his lifetime, often working two or three local jobs at one time. His experience included jobs at the U.S. Steel Mill, formerly of North Industry, OH, The U.S. Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta, OH, The James Brothers Coal Company at Mineral City, owning and operating his own farm, and various other jobs, including delivering newspapers for the Times-Reporter, from which he was retired. He was an avid bowler, having bowled in leagues at Boulevard Lanes, hunting, and his favorite pastimes which included spending time with his family and watching old Western movies. Those who knew Larry understood his love for witty comebacks and one-liners, his kind and gentle nature, and that he was undisputedly a strong and loving family man.
He is survived by his special friend, Hazel Eickleberry, his four children, Todd W. (Terri) Brannon and Mrs. Deb (Mike) Randulic, both of Mineral City, Tammy (John Wellman) Brannon of Dover, OH, and Tracey Brannon of Phoenix, Arizona, a sister, Karen Levengood of New Philadelphia, OH, his seven grandchildren Mrs. Michelle (Jeremy) Evans, Mrs. Jackie (Tim) Stacy, Tyrone (Megan) Brannon, Tony (Kelli) Argento, Shelby (Aaron Westhoefer) Randulic, Trevor (Lindsay) Randulic, and Steven Wellman and his great-grandchildren, Barrett, Brady, and Blaine Evans, Cooper and Dustin Brannon, and Ryder Argento, and Larry's best friend, his dog Thunder.
Public visitation will be held Monday, December 5, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville. A private graveside service will be conducted in the New Cumberland Cemetery at a later date.
