Larry Tedrick Obituary

Larry R. Tedrick, age 87, of  New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Tuesday night, December 7, 2021 in his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 12, 1934 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio and was the son of the late Lloyd Wesley and Pauline "Dolly" Shull Tedrick.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Wendy Leech, brother and sister-in-law Ted and Marcia Tedrick, sister Shirley Downey, and a granddaughter Amber Beans.

He owned and operated the Courthouse Barber Shop on Court Street, New Philadelphia until it relocated to First Drive N.E. following the downtown fire in 1983.  He retired from the barber trade in 1996. Larry was a lifetime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and attended barber college prior to serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington. Larry was an accomplished volleyball player who participated in Dover YMCA Leagues for many years.  He and his family spent numerous summers camping at Atwood Lake. Larry enjoyed fishing and sharing his fishing tales with his barbershop clientele. Above all, Larry cherished the relationships that he shared with his family and many friends. 

He is survived by his wife Kay E. Crites Tedrick, with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past November 17th, two daughters, Mrs. Orlane (Jim) Hawk of Sherrodsville, OH, and Tracy Segen of South Dakota, his grandchildren James C. Hawk of Dover, OH,  Mrs. Michelle (Paul) Zimmerman of New Philadelphia, William T. (Monica) Hawk of Dellroy, OH,  Josh  Beans (companion Angel Burdette) of Tuscarawas, OH, Roni Beans of Florida,  Mrs. Paula (Mark) Lancaster of Strasburg, OH, and Larry Segen (companion Jessica Summers) of Texas, his great-grandchildren Andrew, Ben, and Samantha Hawk, Asher and Lily Zimmerman, Carrie and Laura Hawk, Kendell, Mathis, Malliki, and Kingzlee Beans, Ethan Ritchey and Raelynn and Graycn Lancaster, a son-in-law Ed Leech of Florida, and a large family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.  

In accordance with Larry's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements.
