June Gilbaugh, age 87, a resident of the Bowerston Pointe Care and Rehabilitation Center at Bowerston, and a former Leavittsville O. resident, died Saturday evening, August 7, 2010 in Affinity Medical Center at Massillon following a brief illness.
She was born June 27, 1923 in Leavittsville and was the daughter of the late Walter Brice and Jennie Marie Hagey Boyd. She married Ward Gilbaugh June 16, 1961 and he died Feb. 14, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Boyd and an infant sister.
June graduated Summa Cum Laude from Malone College in 1966 and was a life resident of the Leavittsville area. She retired as an English teacher from Carrollton High School after 15 years of service. She was an accomplished writer having had many of her devotionals and poems published. June was a caretaker for her whole family throughout her life. She attended the Leavittsville United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the New Rumley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by several cousins, including Mrs. Donald (Carol) Burse of Sherrodsville and nieces Carol McAfee of Jewett, O. and Nancy Albaugh of Scio, O.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00A.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in the New Rumley United Methodist Church with Rev. David Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery.
