John Keith Morgan

John "Keith" Morgan, age 87, of  New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Friday night, November 4, 2022 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

He was born March 1, 1935 in New Hagerstown (Orange Township, Carroll Co.), Ohio and was the son of the late John Lester and Elizabeth Audrey Price Morgan.  He married Bettie J. (West) Roof Morgan in 1992 and they shared their lives together until her passing on April 13, 2018. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death  by a brother, Rollett Price Morgan and a daughter, Peggy O'Leary.

A 1953 graduate of Conotton Valley High School, he was employed at the U.S. Quarry Tile Co. in East Sparta until he was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served in Germany.  He graduated from Canton Actual Business College where he studied Business Administration. Following graduation,  he worked as an agent of the Ohio Department of Taxation for 30 years until his retirement in 1988.  He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville and the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510.  He was a fan of Big Band music, having played trumpet in various dance bands, including his own band that he formed in 1965  and performed for many years.

He is survived by a son, Brian Morgan of Mesa, AZ,  a step-son Roger (Cindy) Roof of Carrollton, OH, a brother Dennis N. (Judy) Morgan of Grove City, OH, three grandchildren Danielle, Shannon, and Shane O'Leary, and a niece and seven nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday,  November 9, 2022 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Vicki Muth officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.  Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  Contributions in Keith's memory may be made to either Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W.
