Ethel May Tinlin, age 89, a former Carrollton, Ohio resident, died Tuesday evening, March 31, 2026 in the UC Hospital in West Chester, Ohio.
She was born August 25, 1936 in South Hampton, Long Island, New York and was the daughter of the late Charles, Jr. and Marion Hart (Smith) Johns. Her husband, the late Harold L. Tinlin, Sr., whom she married June 19, 1955 in the Presbyterian Church in East Hampton, New York while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force, passed away on August 24, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Tinlin, a brother, Charles Christopher Johns, and a son-in-law Scott Ross.
Ethel was primarily a homemaker throughout her life who was comfortable in her surroundings at home. There, she engaged in various arts and crafts. She enjoyed many card and board games with family and friends.
She is survived by her children Harold L. Tinlin, Jr. of Carrollton, OH, Barb Ross of Katy, TX, Jeff (Denise) Tinlin of Carrollton, and Mrs. Jennifer (Mike) Theriault of Cincinnati, OH, and grandchildren Michael Hicks, Abby (Aaron) Ross, Holly (Griffin) Robichaux, Brittany (John) Ytuarte, Brenden (Mai) Tinlin, and Alec (Carissa) and Owen (Sydney)Theriault, her great-grandchildren Cameron, Amber, Heather, Christopher, Rowan, Alec (AJ), and Grace, and a sister Mrs. Betty (Randy) Miller of Florissant, CO.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be observed by the family on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the Lady of the Lake Gathering Place, 29 North Smith Street, Dellroy, Ohio. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville, with the assistance of the Hodapp Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
