Dennis L. Alsept Obituary

Dennis Lee Alsept, 78, passed away October 31, 2024 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, of complications from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Son of Claude and Mildred (Olds) Alsept, both deceased, he was born July 5, 1946 in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Tuscarawas Valley High School in 1964. He owned and operated several businesses; amongst them Alsept Rock Bits and Atwood Motors in Dover, Ohio. He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family as he felt they deserved. He was incredibly generous, loving and giving. He was stubborn and opinionated at times, but had a wicked sense of humor. He told the best stories. He would do anything for those he loved.  His family meant more to him than anything.

On August 12, 1967 he married the love of his life, the most beautiful woman in the world he said, Carol Jean (Hooker) Alsept, who preceded him in death on July 21, 2024, just shy of their 57th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed traveling; the occasional gambling trip and embraced many happy years of just being the best of friends. Their family is greatly comforted knowing they are together again, dancing hand in hand.

Dennis had two children, son and best friend Douglas (Wendy) Alsept of Strasburg; daughter and eternal Daddy’s girl Denise (Andy) Donaldson of Bolivar. He has 3 grandchildren, Morgan (companion Michael) Alsept of Dover, Alex (Laura) Donaldson of Green, and Molly (Elissa) Donaldson of Bolivar. Dennis also has 2 great grandchildren, Gideon and Maggie Donaldson of Green.
He is also survived by his special siblings; Sue (Tom) Kahler of Bolivar, Shari Nelson of New Cumberland, Tina Levengood of Bolivar, and Tim (Vicesaha) Alsept of Dellroy.  He was preceded in death by brother David Alsept. Dennis also leaves behind loving sister in law, Nancy (George) McPeek of Dennison and special cousins Mary and Glenn Roark, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A public graveside celebration of Dennis’ life will be held in the New Cumberland Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 8, 2024 with Mary Roark officiating.  The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with arrangements.
