David Leyda Obituary

David W. Leyda, age 81, of  Flint Road S.W., Dellroy, Ohio, died early Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020 in his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born May 25, 1939 in Oneida, Ohio and was the son of  the late Earl and Gladys Totten Leyda.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Jennifer Stewart,  two brothers Larry Leyda and John Leyda,  and two sisters Patricia Neuman and Pam Sewell.

He was employed as a Truck Driver for over 50 years and retired from Webster's Express/H & H Carriers, which was formerly Deioma Trucking. He had also spent his last seven years as a dispatcher.   Throughout the years, he participated in a number of outdoor activities including deer and mushroom hunting, and most particularly trap-shooting. He was also a very skilled gardener who would prepare and can the vegetables that he raised. David was particularly fond of attending family reunions at Lake Mohawk and Sandy Valley Community Park where he could join his family and laugh and reminisce. He could almost always be talked into playing a friendly game of euchre.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife Barbara J. Otte Leyda, who he married September 3, 1960, his three children Mrs. Carol (Jerrod) Hasseman of Mineral City, OH, Mike  Leyda and his companion Deb Canfield of Bolivar, OH, and Nancy Davis of Toronto, OH, two brothers Tom (Janice) Leyda of Waynesburg, OH and Roger Leyda of Mansfield, OH, four sisters Diane Scott of Wooster, OH,  Linda Martindale of Buckeye Lake, OH,  Mrs. Beverly (Gary) Neuman of East Sparta, OH,  and Sue Fiddler of Sandyville, OH.  Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a large family of nieces and nephews complete the family.
