Betty Jean Kennison, age 68, a recent resident of both Carrollton and Sherrodsville, died early Tuesday morning, May 30, 2023 in the Aultman Hospital at Canton.
She was born November 20, 1954 in Dover, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Robert “Mike” and Freda Eileen (Westbrook) Johnstone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Christina Marie Kennison, and a brother Robert “Bobby” Johnstone.
Betty had a smile that lit up the room and her infectious laugh made her the life of the party. She loved good music and dancing and couldn’t sit still when a song she liked was played. She never drove a car without revving the engine and always bragged about being able to squeal the tires in every gear. She wasn’t much of a cook and her family teased her that she could both undercook and burn the same dish. She loved shopping and going out to eat with her family. She loved cuddling up in front of a good show with her guy and she called him “Sunshine”. She was so appreciative of his help and care as her health declined. She loved her sisters and always looked forward to her visits with them. She was a dedicated Mom and Grandma and enjoyed being silly and giggling with her grandkids more than anything else. Betty was a tiny lady with a big heart and she will deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband Victor L. Kennison, two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Jean (Carlos) Zacapala-Diaz of Carrollton and Melissa Ann Lantzer of Beach City, OH, her grandchildren Austin Thompson of Brewster, OH, Kara Zacapala-Diaz and Victor Zacapala-Diaz, both of Carrollton, Breanna Lantzer of Mineral City, OH, and Brittany Lantzer of Beach City, two sisters Bernice Harman of Dover, OH and Mrs, Vicki (Paul) Patterson and sister-in-law Susan Johnstone, both of Winesburg, OH, as well as sister-in-law Mrs. Tina (Bruce) Brown of Lenoir, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Max Wood officiating.
