Moneda Greathouse

Moneda  Greathouse, age 77, of  Mineral City, Ohio,  died early Friday morning,  July 19, 2019 in the Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.

She was born September 22, 1941 in Nicut, West Virginia and was the daughter of  the late Orley Burton and Dana Marie McCumbers Cottrell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life Sherril E. Greathouse, who died in 1989,  five brothers, Dennis Cottrell, Leonard Cottrell,  "Buck" Cottrell, Pete Cottrell, and Samuel Cottrell,  four sisters, Nora German, Margaret Williams, Debbie Moderwell, and Karen Cottrell, and daughter-in-law, Donita Greathouse.

Moneda was primarily a homemaker, mother, and grandmother as her children and grandchildren were the center of her universe.  She loved surrounding herself with flowers, and found extreme joy in planting and caring for them. 

She is survived by her four children Randy (Girlfriend Lois Mann) Greathouse of New Philadelphia, OH, Mrs. Brenda (Jerry) DeLion of Mineral City, Ron (Jan) Greathouse of Akron, OH, and  Gary J. (fiancée Darla Ickes) Greathouse of Mineral City, a sister Viola Needham of Dover, OH,  her five grandchildren,  Joe Greathouse of Connecticut, Gary (Tamara) Greathouse II of Sandyville, OH, Ronald (Lorraine) Greathouse of California, Mrs. Amey (Joey) DiVito of Connecticut,  and Mrs.Tiffany (Austin) Friend of Mineral City, and five great-grandchildren, Braidyn Greathouse of Mineral City,  Benjamin DiVito of Connecticut, Shephard Greathouse and Raine Greathouse, both of California, and Caleb Duebner of Mineral City, and Darla Ickes' children Adrianna and Chad Davis, and a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved with all of her heart.

A family graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the Cottrell-Greathouse Family Cemetery in Mineral City where interment of her ashes will take place.  The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements.  Online condolence messages may be placed on the funeral home website.
