Mary F. "Frankie" Rank

Mary F. "Frankie"  Rank, age 99,  formerly of Forest Road, Dellroy (Atwood Lake), died Friday evening, November 2, 2018 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton, Ohio.

She was born December 29, 1918 in Belington, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Oliver Jay and Jennie Vie Sturm  Myers.  On September 22, 1937, she married her husband Jules Joseph Rank, Jr., who died April 15, 2012.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a  brother.

Frankie spent her childhood in Springfield Lake, Ohio and was a 1936 graduate of Springfield High School where she graduated third academically in her class.  While attending Springfield, she was quite athletic, having participated in girl's singles tennis and was the captain of the girl's basketball team.  She was a member of  the Dellroy Christ Community Church and liked to spend her time working crossword puzzles and was a devoted reader.  She had lived in her Carroll County home along Atwood Lake since 1983, a place that she called  "the Edge of Paradise".  Prior to the death of her husband Jules in 2012, she enjoyed square dancing and traveling with good friends.  

She is survived by  two daughters, Mrs. Judith Marie (James) Truho of Georgetown, Texas and Mrs. Kaye (Gerald) Wandel of Akron, Ohio and two grandsons, Brian Thomas of Wooster, Ohio, and Eric Rogers of Medina, Ohio.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and no formal services are planned.  The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements.  Frankie had suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Senior Friendship Center, 100 Kensington Road N.E., Carrollton, Ohio    44615.
