L. Nadine Shafer

Nadine Shafer, age 57, of Baltic, Ohio (New Bedford) died Wednesday night, May 24, 2017 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a courageous battle with cancer. 
 
She was born September 20, 1959 in Canton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Marion L. and Lois E. Scott Fish.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister Mary Virginia Fish.
 
For the past 28 years, Nadine worked as a registered nurse at East Holmes Family Care's Baltic office. Nadine was an active and faithful member of Countryside Chapel in Baltic since 1983. She could best be described as a charitable and selfless individual whose primary goal in life was to care for others.  Service was her life. She served the Lord through missions trips and by being active in her church. She was also committed to serving her friends, family, and the community. Nadine was known as a highly skilled, compassionate, nurse who spent extra time with each of her patients. She enjoyed working on her flowers and yard outside. Above all else, she loved and cared for her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her young grandchildren.
 
She is survived by her husband Larry G. Shafer, whom she married June 12, 1982, her three children Mrs. Cassie (Nicholas) Wolfe of Dover, O.,  Leah Shafer and Nickolas Shafer, both of New Bedford, her eight siblings Revs. Karen and Phil Gibson of Conesville, O.,  Lenny (Sheila) Fish of New Hagerstown, O.,  Mrs. Darlene (Tom) Bishop of North Canton, O.,  Mrs. Betty (Jerry) Fish-Ferguson of Oregon City, Oregon, Mrs. Janey (Bob) Maney of Leavittsville, O., Rev. Tom (Janet) Fish of Wooster, O.,  Margie Merryman of Sherrodsville, O., and Joshua Fish of Sandyville, O., her three grandchildren Piper Wolfe and  Kimber Wolfe, both of  Dover, and Hunter Par-Due of New Philadelphia, O.,  two sisters-in-law Mrs. Lori (Tim) Boyd of Nashville, O., and Mrs. Lin (Steve) Carr of Baltic, her mother-in-law Jean Shafer of Baltic, and large family of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 1, 2017 in the Countryside Chapel located at 2236 State Route #93, Baltic, Ohio.  Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery at Baltic. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 until  8:00 P.M. in the Countryside Chapel.
