Kathy M. Swaney

Kathy M. Swaney, age 66, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2017 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.

She was born May 31, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Mary A. Presinski  Sarpolis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norman E. "Norm" Swaney, who died December 8, 2009.

Kathy was primarily a homemaker whose life centered around the well-being of her family.  She delighted in the opportunity to babysit her grandchildren. She looked forward to attending Bingo games with her best friend Rita Kellar, and generally enjoyed traveling and shopping.  She loved to attend Cleveland Indians games at Progressive Field, and was a Cleveland sports fan in general. She was an attentive mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and many friends. 

She is survived by her four sons Brian (Heidi) Swaney of Gnadenhutten, O., Eric (Wendy) Swaney of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Chad (Emily) Swaney of Stone Creek, O., and Matthew D. Swaney of Uhrichsville, her eight grandchildren Kylie Hanni of Massillon, O., Kelsie Swaney  and  Cassidy Swaney, both of  Winston-Salem, Chance Swaney of Stone Creek,  Brendan Swaney and Anthony "A.J." Swaney, both of Gnadenhutten, and Cooper Swaney and Carter Swaney, both of Stone Creek, and her two great-grandchildren Elias Hanni and Alaina Hanni, both of Massillon.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Milo Baker officiating.  Calling hours will be held Friday from  6:00  until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  Interment next to her husband Norman will take place Monday in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio.
