John P. "Jack" Vaughan Sr., age 89, of Bolivar, Ohio, died Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 in the Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a recent period of declining health.
He retired in 1992 as a hammer operator from the Ford Motor Company at Canton, Ohio after 39 years of service.
He was born April 4, 1929 in Sherrodsville, Ohio and was the son of the late John Rueben Vaughan and Eleanor Gertrude Bell Vaughan Galliway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Floyd Galliway, a sister Eileen Carroll and two infant sisters.
Jack was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville and the Carroll Masonic Lodge #124 F & AM at Carrollton. He was enthusiastic about recently receiving recognition for 60 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. He was member of the former Sherrodsville Knights of Pythias and the former Orange Lodge at Leesville. When Jack lived in Sherrodsville, he was active in the local Boy Scout Troop and coached a number of local little league baseball teams. He also enjoyed playing golf and pitching horseshoes. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie L. Bucher Vaughan, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on January 10 of this year, a daughter Mrs.Cindy (Greg) Manson of Massillon, OH, three sons John P. Vaughan Jr. and his companion Debbie Garabrandt of New Philadelphia, OH, Jeffrey (Antoinette) Vaughan of Massillon, and Robert "Jay" (Jill) Vaughan of Sherrodsville, three sisters June Grimes of Trenton City, FL., Ruth Fedasz of Sherrodsville, and Janet Raker of Cincinnati, OH, ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. The Carroll Masonic Lodge will provide Masonic Services in the funeral home at 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O.
