Gloria J. Leavers

Gloria J. Leavers, age 82,  a resident of the Claymont Health and Rehabilitation facility at Uhrichsville, Ohio and formerly of Midvale, died Saturday evening, January 7, 2017 following a long illness.

She was born July 24, 1934 in Massillon, Ohio and was the daughter of the late George E. and Viola G. Downing Courim.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith J.  "Peck" Leavers, who died February 25, 2004, a sister Margaret Harbaugh,  a great-granddaughter Kara Leavers, and a grandson Chad Leavers who along with his wife Kelly and their children Taylor and Katana Leavers perished together in a fire.

She was primarily a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Lifebridge Church at New Philadelphia (formerly First Assembly of God).  She was always recognized by her family as being an extraordinary housekeeper and extremely organized.  She had an unusual habit of constantly relocating the furniture in her home, which amused her family. 

She is survived by her four children Jim (Sherry) Leavers of New Philadelphia, O,  Paul (Tara) Leavers of Midvale, Mrs. Cheryl (Delbert) Reynolds of New Philadelphia (Barnhill), and Mark (Noreen) Leavers of Midvale, her four grandsons Mike (Companion Wendy McDaniels) Leavers of Uhrichsville, O.,  Jeremy Garrett of Barnhill, Jason (Tiffany) Garrett of Winfield, O., and Cole (Companion Chared Meland) Leavers of Dover, O., two step-grandchildren Rick (Andi) Ricer of Uhrichsville, and Julie Dietz of Carrollton, O., her eight great-grandchildren Joshua (Christy) Fagen of Brightwood, O.,  Mikey Leavers and Autumn Leavers, both of Pride Valley, O.,   Kaleb Leavers of Newcomerstown, O.,  Draven Leavers of Dover,  Bryson Garrett and Brantley Garrett, both of of Winfield, and California Leavers of Uhrichsville, and a step-great-grandson, Braden Crone of Winfield.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday,  January 11, 2017 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 12:00 P.M. until time of services at 1:00 in the funeral home.
