He was a former sheet metal mechanic who worked for Moore Metal in Charleston, South Carolina for 13 years.  He was a member of the Batesville (Indiana) United Methodist Church. As a young man, George had an affection for attending fairs and carnivals. He enjoyed it enough that he traveled for awhile as a "carnie" running a Skee-Ball game. His most relaxing entertainment was tent camping with his family, and was fond of going to the beach. In his travels, George found it impossible to not stop at a yard sale. His last passion in life was to get the Alco Services, LLC center in New Philadelphia operating so he could spend time with the resident children.
