Ernest G. Beavers, age 83, of Tabor Ridge Road N.E., New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Friday morning, September 20, 2019 in the Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia.
He was born August 10, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, Ohio and was the son of the late John R. and Ila E. Calhoun Beavers. His wife, the late Linda Marie Stokey Beavers, is deceased. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Beavers Fish, a brother Raymond Beavers, brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Geraldine Beavers and Willard and Ethel Beavers, sisters and brothers-in-law Mrs. Dolores and Lucky Robinson and Kathryn and Herb Robinson and brother-in-law Robert Bucher.
Ernest was at one time employed as a mechanic for the former Harry Humphries Auto City, Inc. at Dover and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Horizons Coal Company. He had a special affinity for horses ... he loved to train rider horses. He was particularly proud that he once sold an Arabian Horse that he had raised and trained to the family of Wayne Newton. Ernest was a fan of the author Louis L'Amour and possessed a large collection of his books.
He is survived by a son, Anthony G. Beavers, with whom Ernest resided, two daughters, Darla (Seth) Everhart of Dalton, Ohio and Sonjia Campbell of Mount Vernon, Ohio, a sister, Lucille Bucher of New Philadelphia, a brother James (Leila) Beavers of New Philadelphia, and a sister-in-law Marcia Beavers of New Philadelphia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in the Fair Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia with Rev. Milo Baker officiating where interment will follow. There are no calling hours. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements. Online condolence messages may be left on the funeral home website.
