Dorothy G. Leeper Boswell

Dorothy Gertrude Leeper Boswell, 90, died peacefully at home on September 22, 2018, following a brief illness. She was born on June 10, 1928, in Leesville, OH, to William Wilson Leeper, Sr. and Gertrude Thomas Leeper. 
Dorothy taught ballroom dance at Arthur Murray Dance Studio to pay her way through college, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in speech therapy from Kent State University. She married Dr. John Roberts “Bob” Boswell on August 23, 1963 and they were happily married for 44 years. After Bob retired from medicine in 1984, they raised Morgan horses on their farm near Deersville, OH. In 1993, they retired from this “second career” and moved to Prescott, AZ. 
In addition to her husband, who passed on December 3, 2007, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Francis “Fritz,” Thomas, Robert, and William W. Leeper, Jr; and two sisters, Marilyn and Shirley Leeper.
She is survived by her daughter, Lira Maywood of North Hollywood, CA; two stepsons, Thom Boswell of McKinleyville, CA, and Bruce (Rossana) Boswell of Corpus Christi, TX; two stepdaughters, Cristine (Paul) Marchand of Santa Fe, NM, and Mary Lou Bedore of Broomfield, CO; three grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, and Ashley Bedore; her sister, Alice (Elmer) Tope of Bolivar, OH; her sister-in-law, Mary Leeper of Dover, OH; cousins Gordon (Sharon) Leeper and Joy Leeper of MI; and many nieces and nephews. 
Dorothy was active in Christian Women’s Club and Community Bible Study and will be remembered for her powerful faith. She enjoyed church, music, reading, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.
 A memorial service officiated by Rev. Ron Heasley will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in the Leesville United Methodist Church, with interment at Leesville Cemetery to follow.  To leave an online condolence message, please visit the funeral home website.
