Clara "Maxine" Bolitho, age 98, who resided with her daughter in Dellroy, Ohio, and formerly of Uhrichsville, Ohio and Port Charlotte Village, Florida, died peacefully Thursday evening, June 14, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
She was born December 30, 1919 in Uhrichsville, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Emerson Floyd and Etta Marie Patterson Trushel. Her husband, Charles Thomas "Chuck" Bolitho, Sr., died May 14, 1984, just months prior to their 50th wedding anniversary. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons R. Bruce Flanagan Jr. and Eric Schneider, a great-grandson Rodney Alan Mizer and a son-in-law Bill Miller.
Maxine graduated from the former Uhrichsville High School in 1936, and over the years had maintained a close relationship with her fellow class members. Throughout the years, she has been employed in retail, interior design, and was a cup and china painter at the Scio Pottery. She and her husband Chuck bought and resold a number of homes through the years (long before the process was referred to as "flipping homes"). She was a talented seamstress who created a number of wedding gowns and prom dresses for family members. Maxine was said by many to be a "tough cookie" ... having a set of twins, she gave birth to her first four children with in a 37-month time frame. She attended the Dellroy Church of the Nazarene and was known as an avid reader. She happily indulged in a good rare steak and spaghetti, candy, and ice cream without apology. She enjoyed playing Chickenfoot (a dominoes game), but her true passion was playing Bingo. If there were awards for bingo players, it would go to Maxine.
She is survived by her six children Mrs. Bonnie (Harold "Hap") Schneider of Apple Valley, OH, Brenda Bolitho of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Floyd (Janie) Bolitho of Hervey Bay, Australia, Charles T. "Chic" (Cheryl) Bolitho, Jr. of Uhrichsville, Mrs. Faye (Robert, Sr.) Flanagan of Dellroy, and Jack (Connie) Bolitho of Dennison, OH, and her faithful canine companion, her Beloved Maltese "Beanie", her 10 grandchildren Keith Schneider of Apple Valley, David (Tina) Schneider of Lima, OH, L. Miller, Mrs. Lori (Rich) Wright of Lake Havasu, AZ, Mrs. Holly (Troy) Merrick of Parma OH, Mrs. Shanon (Vince) Terakedis of Uhrichsville OH, Brian (Marcy) Flanagan of Magnolia, OH, Chad (Melissa) Flanagan of Highland, MI, Nic (Jenny) Bolitho of Powell, OH, Zac (Kayla) Bolitho of Raleigh, NC, a granddaughter in law Melissa Schneider of Quincy, Ohio, 24 great-grandchildren Quinn Schneider, Charlie Schneider, Ian Schneider, Mikenna Schneider, Jaren Schneider, Tegan Schneider, Griffin Schneider, EmmaLee Schneider, Kohen Schneider, Anthony Wright, Tyler Wright, Cade Merrick, Emma Merrick, Arianna Terakedis, Tully Flanagan, Tiffany (Kurtis) Stanley, Rownin Flanagan, Tavin Flanagan, Annie Bever, Chad Sommer, Zoe Bolitho, Scarlett Bolitho, Sutton Bolitho and Hazel Bolitho. Also surviving are her Special Helper Janet Lemons of Dellroy, special friends Gene and Peg Kutcher and Betty and Butch Scott and her Bingo Buddy Barb Newell.
