Virgil D. Hershberger

Virgil D. Hershberger, age 41, of  Dellroy, Ohio, died Saturday morning, February 10, 2018 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness. 

He was born September 17, 1976 in Orrville, Ohio and was the son of  Lorene L. Miller Hershberger of Apple Creek, O. and the late Mose E. Hershberger.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Leroy Hershberger.

He was employed through the Ohio Operating Engineers Local #18 in Akron, Ohio and was currently working at the Shelly Materials, Inc. Kent Facility.  Virgil was a fan of Sprint Car Racing and was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who delighted in spending his leisure time camping, hunting, and fishing.  He took pride in building things, particularly when it would improve his home environment.   He was very fond of his co-worker family and was a thoughtful and caring husband, son, step-father and brother who will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends.. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Jeanna Heavelyn Hershberger, whom he married June 12, 2010, two step-sons Brandon McCreary of Dellroy,  and Justin (Tynne) Heavelyn of Uhrichsville, O;  a sister and three brothers Mrs. Delores (Terry) Goad, and Daniel R. Hershberger, both of Apple Creek, O., Willard L. Hershberger of Shreve, O., and Steve Hershberger of Apple Creek,  and a large family of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 15, 2018  in the Calvary United Methodist Church, located at 328 S. Church Street, Sherrodsville with  Pastor Matt Hamsher officiating.  A luncheon will be provided in the church social hall following interment in the Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville, Ohio.
