Robert A. Smith

Robert A. Smith, age 52, of 12 North Arch Street, Dellroy, Ohio, died suddenly Saturday evening, June 11, 2016 in Union Hospital at Dover.

He was born October 14, 1963 in Canton, Ohio,  and was the son of the late Otis and Phyllis Hanshaw Smith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  a sister Yvonne Smith.

He was formerly employed at the Atwood Lake Lodge where he mowed the greens and performed general maintenance at the golf course, and was also employed part-time for 10 years as a counterman at the Carson's NAPA Store in Carrollton, Ohio.   Bob proudly served the Dellroy community for three terms as the Mayor of the Village. Through thoughtful service, he always kept the best interests of the citizens of the village at heart.  He attended the Dellroy United Methodist Church. He appreciated any opportunity to go fishing, and was a devoted fan of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He adored his canine companions at home, Smoke and Halle.  Bob will be missed by his family, community, and friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Denise E. Darrah Smith, whom he married June 15, 1985, two sons, Rob Smith and his fiancee Amanda James of Canton, and Chuck Smith of Dellroy, and a brother David Smith of Canton.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating.  Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery at Carrollton. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
