Mary "Kay" McKinney

Kay McKinney, age 72, of  Dover, Ohio, died Monday morning, November 16, 2015 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

She was born September 14, 1943 in Dennison, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel Hahn Leggett.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by  eight brothers Paul, Joe, Jack Sr., Earl "Max", Dale G.,  and Waldon Leggett and two infant brothers, and two sisters Theda Herbert and Betty Rennicker.

She retired as a nurse's aide from Sunny Slope Nursing Home at Bowerston after 23 years of service. She also performed residential cleaning in the area for seven years.  She was known as a voracious reader and she loved to play electronic games on her tablet. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed watching sporting events on television.  Mary Kay was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. 

She is survived by her husband Charlie S. McKinney, whom she married March 16, 1991, and children Mrs. Darlene (Arthur) Walker of Uhrichsville, O.,  and Mrs. Jolene (Mickey) Cochran of Port Washington, O., Michael (Nik-ki) McCreary of Sherrodsville, O., Melissa Zacker of New Philadelphia, O., Mrs.  Michelle (Dave) Wiandt of Strasburg, O., Charlie (Lisa) McKinney Jr., Tammy Dobbs, and Scott McKinney, all of Dover, her last surviving brother Robert (Betty) Leggett of Sherrodsville, and 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be conducted Friday, November 20, 2015  in the Leavittsville Cemetery with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating with interment to follow. Public calling hours will be held Thursday from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.   The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Children's Hospital, 215 West Bowery Street Akron, OH  44308 or Hospice of Tuscarawas County 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia OH   44663.
