We first met Mark and Mary 20 years ago, and the four of us became " family-of-the-heart." It was always fun when we got together - eating, talking, laughing. Mark had a wonderful laugh. And a dry sense of humor. Oh, could he tease, and then laugh about it. You could kid him right back and he enjoyed that, too. Thanksgiving became a tradition we shared together at their home. Mark enjoyed cooking and took great pride in the preparation of the turkey. They were always perfectly golden brown and tasted wonderful. At our last Thansgiving together, he posed next to the table with all the food set out, threw his arms wide open toward the table, with a broad smile on his face, and I snapped a picture. That is our favorite picture of him as it just embodied his zest for life. Mary, we so miss our dear friend. We will forever hold his memory in our hearts.

Mark and I were soul mates and I cherish the 30 years we had together. We built our lives together and worked side-by-side as lifelong partners, friends and lovers. We built three homes together, laughing and sharing every moment of our lives with each other. He taught my nephews to hunt, ride atvs , camp etc. on our three homesites. He would sit for hours talking with his brother-in-laws and nephews about hunting, fishing and politics. He loved Christmas at my parents' when my 12 nieces and nephews and four siblings & spouses shared an endless culinary feast and piles of presents as well as the bountiful joy of Christmas and family times together. We shared a love of adventure and spent our free time fishing and camping on our 35 acres, sitting under the stars at bonfires, snuggling together in our tent and just sharing all the goodness of life together. Our families and friends shared years of family meals, holiday surprises, weddings, births and graduations. He was a pall-bearer for both my parents' funerals and for several of his dear friends too. We spent our vacations camping and fishing in Canada, Kentucky, West Virginia and throughout Ohio. We also enjoyed summers in the Carolinas and years of sunrises and sunsets shared while walking hand-in-hand on the beaches as well as throughout our home's nature-filled woods and fields. He carved my initials and the words "Mark & Mary forever" at a special, private location. I have every card and love note he ever wrote me from the first week we met to the last day. To have that strong a love, that love that weathers storms and everyday stresses, to get through that together and still be best buddies and deeply in love, that is God's miracle and blessing and although I miss Mark with every breath I take, knowing in my heart that he is smiling and laughing and waiting for me in Heaven, that is what cheers me on and allows me to go forward on this Life's journey. I miss you dear husband, but I know we will never be apart, for I keep our love safe within my heart and your love will always surround, comfort and cheer me on.

Mark was a wonderful person and a great brother in law. We enjoyed his humor and we would always end up laughing . He and our sister had a special bond and deeply loved each other very much. Our family will always love and miss him.
