Welcome to the memorial page for

Lola Nora Fetty Baker "Mom Baker"

May 11, 1925 ~ March 24, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Lola Nora Baker, age 90, of  New Cumberland, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 in the Weirton Medical Center.

She was born May 11, 1925 in Weirton, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Sadie M. Tingler Fetty. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Rev. Arnett E. Baker, who passed away on June 8, 2001. She was a graduate of Weir High School in 1943.

Along with being a loving mother, Lola took on the responsibility of being a faithful pastor's wife. She always supported and encouraged her husband as they ministered together for 46 years at several churches in the West Virginia and Ohio District.  She served as a Sunday/Bible School Teacher and treasurer for the Missionary Society. Lola was also a custodian who retired from the Hancock County Schools, a cook at the Youth Opportunity Camp (YOC), and was involved in many school activities, including Band President.  She served as a chaperone for Cooper Dorm at Hollow Rock Holiness Church Camp, something she looked forward to attending every year. Lola was an avid supporter and one of the creators of the Hancock County Community Hymn Sing.  She also gathered information and was one of the authors of the Newell West Virginia History Book. She thoroughly enjoyed making floral arrangements for various occasions and events.

Lola loved and served the Lord all of her life and was a blessing to many.  Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Ellie Mae Baker of New Cumberland, West Virginia, son Ronald Baker of Weirton, West Virginia, son Rev. Milo Baker of Bowerston, Ohio, daughter Robin Baker Hughes ( son-in-law Scotty Hughes) of Johnson City, Tennessee, and daughter Valerie Baker Seevers  (son-in-law Dennis Seevers) of Virginia Beach,Virginia. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends who loved her and chose to call her "Mom Baker".  Huge appreciation goes to daughter Ellie Baker who resided with Lola.  She cared for Lola at all times over the years.  Ellie's huge heart and patience showed in everything she did. She always put others first, never thinking twice, which makes her truly one of a kind. The family would also like to express their gratitude and many thanks to the Hancock Senior Center, Carriage Inn, Dr. Krzysztof J. Kubicki and Staff, and the staff at Weirton Medical Center (8th Floor).

A service in Celebration of Lola's Life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene, 475 Colliers Way, Weirton, West Virginia with  Rev.
