Lawrence A.  "Skip"  Hubbard , age 85, of  Dellroy, Ohio, died Thursday morning, November 19, 2015 in his residence following a brief illness,

Born December 20, 1929 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of  the late Willard and Mildred Hasseman Hubbard .  

Skip was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and a 1947 graduate of Malvern High School. He retired in 1992 from the Timken Company at Canton, Ohio after 25 years of service.  In his younger years, Skip was a fast pitch softball player in Carroll and Stark Counties. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his sons, his wife, and his friends. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family will miss and cherish his humor, stories, and homemade ice cream. 

On June 9, 1984, he married Mary Lou Hutchins Kerns, who survives along with his children and step-children, as follows:  sons Bob (Deb) Hubbard and Randy (Marci) Hubbard, both of Malvern, O., daughter Lee Ann Riter (Scott Leuenberger) of Minerva, O., and bonus son Mike (Brooke) Wood of Malvern,  step-sons, Robert (Alison) Kerns of New Philadelphia, O., and Scott (Julie) Kerns of Tuscarawas, O., step-daughters Tammy Kerns (Jamie Zerbe) of Lima, O., and Penny Kerns (Darren Teis) of Malvern, grandchildren Shannon (Jeff) Evans of Louisville, O., Brett (Kathy) Hubbard of Columbus, O., Jason (Karen) Hubbard of Norton, O., Jeremy Hubbard (Sara) of Canton, Zac Riter of Minerva, O.,  Danielle Hubbard of Malvern, Morgan Hubbard  (Josh) of Malvern, step-grandchildren Jordan Doane of Minerva, Justin Doane of Navarre, O., Tanea (Spencer) Levengood of New Cumberland, O., and Kami Kerns of Tuscarawas, and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Harper, London, Ahna, Jada, Shelby, Bridget, Abbi, Bella, Gavin, and Ashlynn, and his siblings Pauline (Dick) Wingerter and David (Chris) Hubbard, both of Canton, Charles Hubbard of Carrollton, O., and Shirley Hubbard of Bullhead City, Arizona.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Schen.

Calling hours for Skip will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville. No formal funeral service is planned.
