Joey Brown, Sr.

Joey  Brown, Sr., age 73, of 8073 Azalea Road S.W., Bowerston, Ohio, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2016 in his residence following a period of declining health.

He retired in 2007 from the former U.S. Ceramic Tile Company at East Sparta after 27 years service.

He was born February 8, 1942 in Williamson, West Virginia and was the son of the late Lavenger Homer Brown and Nancy Jane Archer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Joey loved to cook and bake.  But more importantly, he shared the lessons with his grandkids as he taught them to bake cakes and cornbread. He also looked forward to fishing with his grandkids. He also welcomed the opportunity to attended his granddaughters' horse shows as often as he could.  Even later in life, as he began to slow down a bit, it was important for him to help out friends and family as much as possible. Joey adored the company of his canine friends Spike and Stumpy. 

He is survived by his former spouse, lifelong friend and caregiver Linda K. Brown, with whom he resided,  a daughter Mrs. Laura (Brian) Cadle of Roswell, O., a son Joey Brown, Jr. of Sherrodsville, O., a step-son, David (Suzi) Robin of Surprise, Arizona, a  sister Ruby Smith of Huntington, West Virginia, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law  Frank and Sue Buehler of Sherrodsville, a niece Linda Kay Lorenze of Canton, O., a nephew Terry Smith of Huntington, West Virginia, and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 7, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Mr. Karl Henry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W.,  New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
