James D. Maney, age 69, of Carrollton, Ohio, and a former Dellroy resident, died suddenly in his home Friday morning, April 8, 2016.
He was born September 21, 1946 in Hayesville, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Donald A. and Betty Elizabeth Kitchens Maney . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ann "Peg" Mackey Maney who died April 25, 2010.
He was a retired maintenance employee of the Rubbermaid Company at Mogadore, and had also worked for many years at Crown Cork and Seal at Massillon. James was a great lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed boating and fishing, most commonly at Atwood Lake. He was fond of traveling and camping, and had a particular appreciation for the mountains. Always a man with a joke or two, he was known for his great sense of humor. He also liked to go dancing and enjoyed visiting and talking to his friends and family. He was a Viet Nam war era veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was a loving father, grandfather and companion who will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his companion, Pat Kramer of Carrollton, a son Mike Maney and daughter Dawna L. Maney, and grandson Travis "Tee" Hockenberry, all of Dellroy, a sister Mrs. Martha (Richard) Hutson of Leavittsville, Ohio and two brothers, Bob D. (Jane) Maney of Leavittsville and Glenn M. (Tammy) Maney of Dellroy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Robert R. King officiating. Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery where the Carroll County combined units of the V.F.W., American Legion, and the DAV will conduct military graveside services. a luncheon is planned in the Leavittsville Church Annex following the committal service.
