Helen L. Knight

Helen L. Knight, age 69, of Union Street, Leesville, Ohio, died Saturday afternoon April 2, 2016 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

She was born October 9, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Ira Beard Sr. and Helen Louise Stroup Beard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Fraley, and one granddaughter.

Helen loved attending church and was a faithful member of the Leesville Faith Community Chapel.  She was a member of the Conotton Valley Garden Club and was the organizer of the former Leesville Memorial Association. She relished any opportunity to play Bingo or attend sporting events at Conotton Valley High School. She spent many hours visiting friends, reveled in any opportunity to talk on the telephone, and was a familiar sight sitting on her porch waving at people who drove by her Leesville home. But mostly, she cherished the company of her family, her grandchildren in particular.  She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. 

She is survived by her five children Ronnie D. Riley of North Carolina, Thomas Knight and Mrs.Tammy (Juan) Garza, both of  Amory, Mississippi,  Mrs.Lila (Billy) Booth, Jr. of Sherrodsville, O.,   and Benjamin Owen Knight of Maynard, O., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,  two sisters Mrs. Catherine Richardson and Mrs. Susan (Larry) Myers, both of Mansfield, O., and two brothers Ira (Peggy) Beard Jr. of Scio, O. and Albert (Pauline) Beard of Port Washington, O.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 7, 2016 in the Leesville Faith Community Chapel with Pastor Doug McFadden officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Tribute Program,  P.
