Harold R. "Butch" (Sr.) Maxwell

January 22, 1943 ~ June 26, 2016 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Harold R. "Butch" Maxwell, Sr., age 73, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2016 in  the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

He was born January 22, 1943 in Dennison, Ohio and was the son of the late Earl J. Maxwell and Olive Roberta Greer Conway. His step-father, Henry Conway, is also deceased.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouse, Winifred Ann Wade Maxwell, who died February 16, 2016, an infant daughter Roberta Jane Maxwell, and three brothers James S. Stinard, Stanley Stinard, and Pete Maxwell.

He retired in 2006 from the former Ariel Oaks at Sherrodsville, where he worked building oak furniture for 17 years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, who served from 1960-1963.  Butch was a former member of  the Army-Navy Garrison in New Philadelphia, the Uhrichsville Moose, and the Dover V.F.W. Post # 7079.  Even though Butch was fond of woodworking as a hobby, his overall favorite pastime was fishing.  Butch will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 

He is survived by two daughters and a son Mrs. Brenda Ann (Joey) Eckstein of New Philadelphia (Roswell),  Cheri Lynn Maxwell of New Philadelphia, and Harold "Butch" (Crystal) Maxwell Jr. of Uhrichsville, O.,  eleven grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, a brother, Eugene (Lois) Maxwell of Ottawa, Missouri, a sister, Donna Durrel of Riverside, California, a step-sister Patricia Anslow of New Philadelphia, and four step-brothers Chuck (Barb) Conway of North Carolina, John (Glenda) Conway and Jeff (Karen) Conway, both of Uhrichsville, and Randy (Sherri) Conway of New Philadelphia.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate his life will take place Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roswell Park Pavillion.  Interment of his ashes will follow at a later date in the Longview Cemetery at Bowerston, Ohio.
