Elizabeth "Betty" (Romig) Ross , age 91, a former Cutler Road, Sherrodsville, Ohio resident, went home to be with her Lord Saturday night, February 13, 2016 in the New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
She was born July 19, 1924 in Tuscarawas, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Irven C. and Lula A. Wiseman Eichel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Jesse Dale Romig, who died March 4, 1991, her second husband Clair Ross, who died August 18, 2010, a sister Ruth Brown and a son Irven Romig, who died in 1979.
She retired from the former Stratton State Farm Insurance Agency at Sherrodsville where she worked for over 30 years. She was an active member of the Leesville Faith Community Chapel.
Betty was a 1941 graduate of the former Midvale High School.
She is survived by her three children Jim (Carla) Romig of Sherrodsville, Mrs. Mary Ellen (Richard) Gooding of New Cumberland, O. and George (Kathy) Romig of Bowerston, O., four step-children, two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Louise) Dessecker of New Philadelphia, O. and Mrs. Paul (Donna) Lahmers of Strasburg, O., a brother, Fred (Karen) Eichel of New Philadelphia, O., seven grandchildren Julia Chapman of East Sparta, O., Chad Romig of Bowerston, Tim (Amanda) Romig of Dover, Amy Romig of Sherrodsville, Gary (Cindy) Sanders of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Jessica (Nat) Hammerli of New Orleans, Lousiana, and Josh (Tricia) Gooding of Brecksville, O. and eight great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Doug McFadden officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In honor of Betty's lifelong work and support of missions, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in support of any missions effort of the donor's choice.
