Earl  "Lynn"  German, age 79, of Dellroy, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, September 29, 2016 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born May 27, 1937 at the family farmhouse in Dellroy, Ohio and was the son of the late Okey L. and Mary Shotwell German.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, a great granddaughter, three brothers John A., Orlo, and Dean German, and a sister, Marie Moore. 

Lynn worked as a finish carpenter and a private contractor from 1955 until he retired in 2002  from the Carpenter's Union, Local #69.   He was a member of the Dellroy United Methodist Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #706 at Dellroy.  He was a very talented bowler who bowled for many years at both the Atwood Lanes in Dellroy and  Carroll Lanes in Carrollton.  Lynn had the distinction of bowling the first perfect 300 game ever recorded in Carroll County on March 5, 1980. His preferred pastime was working on antique Ford vehicles as well as traveling with his family. He was a fan of all of the Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio State Buckeyes. His life centered around his family and he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be fondly remembered by those he leaves behind. 

He is survived by his wife Linda Sue Hossler German, whom he married July 8, 1972, his four children Tim (Tuesday) German of Carrollton, O., Michelle (David) Court of Salem, O.,  Galen (Sally) German of Somerset, O., and Darin (Jenny) German of Blacklick, O., his six grandchildren Josh Long, Heath Leggett, Michael German, Emery German, Owen German and Kelli Andrich, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Evelyn Jones of Dellroy, Norma Roof of Canton, O., and Mrs. Donna Mae (Robert) Westfall of Carrollton, and his in-laws Carl and Cheryl Hossler of Dellroy, Patty and Garry Swaldo of Bolivar, O., and Joy Bednarz of Columbus, O.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday,  October 3, 2016 in the  Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating.  Interment will follow in the Union Valley Cemetery near Dellroy. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 and  from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County,  716 Commercial Avenue S.W.,  New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663or the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 W.
