Donald R. "Duke" Baker

Donald  R.  "Duke"  Baker, age 62, of 3224 Alamo Road S.W. , Carrollton, Ohio, died suddenly in his residence Tuesday, July 19, 2016. 

He retired as a truck driver from Hilltop Energy at Mineral City, O. where he worked from 1996 until 2014.

He was born June 11, 1954 in Pineville, Kentucky, and grew up in Sherrodsville, Ohio.  He was the son of the late Joe L. and Louise Sanders Baker .  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Debby Jill Baker, whom he was married to for 26 years.

Duke was extremely fond of outdoor activities, and was basking in the freedom of his retirement.   First and foremost, he loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He would periodically drive to Kentucky to ride four-wheelers with friends and family.  Those who knew Duke knew that he would always greet them with a smile, and maybe a joke or two. 

He is survived by his four children Jason (Heather) Baker of Sherrodsville, Mrs. Tara (Jacky) Locker and Tyler Baker and his companion Heather Green, all of  Atwood Lake, and Ryan Baker of Massillon, O., his four brothers and two sisters Mrs. Diane (Charles ) Smith of Hamilton, O.,  Ron (Tina) Baker, and Darrell (Suzy) Baker, both of Carrollton, Bobby Joe (Bev) Baker of Lafayette, Indiana, Larry (Deborah) Baker of Carrollton, and Mrs. Linda (Joe) Arnold of Newport, O., and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Milo Baker officiating.  Calling hours will be held Saturday, from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at  1:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
