Crystal Gayle Allen, age 38, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Sunday afternoon, May 28, 2017 in the Lodi Community Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born June 20, 1978 in Zanesville, Ohio and was the daughter of Diane M. Schafer of Mineral City, O., and Myron Gail  (wife Brenda) Allen of Beach City, O. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Clarence and Pauline Schafer, her paternal grandparents Clayton and Helen Allen, and two uncles Billy Schafer and Terry Allen.

She was recently employed as assistant manager of Advance America in New Philadelphia.  She was a 1997 graduate of Tusky Valley High School and Buckeye Career Center, and held an associate's degree in criminal justice from Brown Mackie College. One of her favorite pastimes was attending her nephew Treyvon's New Phila Black Sox baseball games. But her son Tayshawn was the center of her life, and spending time with him was her priority. 

In addition to her parents and step-mother, she is survived by her son, Tayshawn Allen of New Philadelphia, a sister Melissa Allen of Dover, O., a  brother William Allen of Mineral City,  and three nephews Treyvon Allen of Dover,  A.J. Warner of Gnadenhutten, O., and Ashton Wilson of West Lafayette, O.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with  Rev. Dan Legg and Rev. Jon Long officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Following the committal service at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held in the adjacent Warren Township Community Center.  Memorial contributions may be made for the benefit of the family through the funeral home.  To leave an online condolence message please visit the funeral home website.
